Thanksgiving Tips & Tricks

The countdown is on to get the Thanksgiving dinner on the table. Here are some of our favorite tips and tricks to help make the process easier for you this time around.

Set the Table on Wednesday.

If possible, break out the china and set the table the day before the event. Get out the pretty glasses, and favorite tablecloth, and search for the gravy boat you use once a year. It will make Thursday so much easier.

Gather Your Serving Dishes.

Use post-it notes to label what dish will go where once it’s finished, or what it needs to be baked in. Deciding today helps reduce decision fatigue tomorrow. And grab those serving spoons too.

Make the Cranberry Sauce.

Our cranberry sauce is delicious and simple to prepare. It needs time to chill so make it today so it’s already checked off your list tomorrow.

Write Out a Timeline

Already decided what time you want to serve your meal? Work backwards from there to determine when to put your turkey in. Take the turkey out to warm up before putting it in the oven for more even cooking. This usually takes 60-90 minutes.

Brine Your Turkey.

You can use a wet brine or dry brine, but don’t forget to prep ahead today. Ensure your turkey is fully defrosted. Leave it uncovered in your fridge overnight, covered with a stick of softened butter. Alternatively, follow the directions on your Curio Spice wet brine package.

Baking Times

Here is a handy chart for baking your turkey. Add additional 20-30 minutes if your turkey is stuffed.
  • 10 lbs: 2 hours
  • 12 lbs: 2 & 1/2 hours
  • 15 lbs: 2 & 3/4 hours
  • 17 lbs: 3 hours
  • 20 lbs: 3 & 1/2 hours
Oven temperatures vary so use a meat thermometer and remove from the oven at 170°F when inserted into the thigh. Let the turkey rest for at least 30 minutes to let the juices be reabsorbed into the meat, making it more flavorful.

We hope these tips and tricks make your holiday prep a little easier and your holiday a little more enjoyable. From our family to yours, we wish you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving surrounded by those you love, and of course, lots of delicious food!
