Making your own cranberry sauce is so easy for the Thanksgiving season. We are proud of our fresh produce so we are sharing an easy recipe for your holiday table.
Cranberries are one of our favorite Massachusetts-grown fall produce items. This cranberry sauce recipe also highlights another favorite fall fruit, apples. The apples are optional but a great way to take your cranberry sauce recipe from regular to memorable. Make this in advance of the Thanksgiving meal so you can check it off your list.

Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh cranberries
- 1 cup cider
- 1/2 cup sugar
- zest of 1 orange
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped into cranberry-size pieces (optional)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the cider and sugar and bring to a boil to melt the sugar.
Add the cranberries and orange zest. Keep at a medium temperature until the cranberries pop, about 8-10 minutes.
Add the apples and cook for an additional minute if using.
Transfer to your serving dish or storage container. Cool to room temperature and then refrigerate.
