DISCOVER THE NEW SOLUTION FOR sCALING FOOD BOX DELIVERY
We own the supply, build to your spec, and ship to the door.
Most companies running nutrition programs buy their food from someone else. We do not. Morrissey Market comes out of a produce distribution business, so the food in your members’ boxes moves through our own supply and our own cold chain, not a retail shelf.
That is what makes the rest possible. Your clinical or benefits team sets the spec. We build to it, verify it item by item, and ship to the member’s door. If your program has to meet a state standard, we map every menu to it before a single box ships.
Frequently asked questions
What are medically tailored groceries?
Medically tailored groceries (MTG) are boxes of unprepared or lightly processed foods, produce, whole grains, and lean proteins, selected by registered dietitians as part of a treatment plan for someone with a defined medical diagnosis. Unlike prepared meals, recipients cook at home.
How are medically tailored grocery programs reimbursed?
Most programs are funded through Medicaid Section 1115 waivers, in-lieu-of-services (ILOS) benefits, and state Food is Medicine initiatives. Morrissey Market is a trusted provider for 1115 waiver and ILOS programs in multiple states.
What is the difference between medically tailored meals and medically tailored groceries?
Medically tailored meals (MTM) arrive fully prepared. Medically tailored groceries provide the ingredients for people who can cook at home, typically at a lower cost per member, and they feed the whole household rather than one person.
Do you only work on Food is Medicine programs?
No. Food is Medicine is where most of our volume sits today, but the same box, cold chain, and reporting support any nutrition program. We ship for Medicaid and Medicare programs, virtual care and GLP-1 companies, self-insured employers, and food relief agencies.
Can you support a GLP-1 program?
Yes. Your clinical team sets the nutrition spec and we build to it. For GLP-1 populations that usually means a higher protein target, more fiber, and smaller portion sizes that match a reduced appetite, with milder, lower-fat items during the titration period. We work with registered dietitians on menu design.
Can a self-insured employer offer this as a benefit?
Yes. We price per box and hold that price across the plan year so the benefit budget is predictable, and we ship to the member’s home rather than the worksite.
What does it take to start?
Tell us the population, the volume, and the geography. We come back with a menu, a price, and a launch date. Sample boxes ship before launch so your team reviews the real thing.
